The quantum basket rallied with a risk-on tech tape ahead of the DARPA Stage C downselect, led by Quantinuum, while thin photonics ADR Hamamatsu was the lone notable decliner.

The leader was Quantinuum (QNT), up 8.3% to $38.65 on the platforms chokepoint — the trapped-ion full-stack rung. The move had no company-specific catalyst; it rode a broad rally across the pure-play quantum complex on a strongly risk-on session (the Nasdaq Composite +1.05% to 26,702.86). The breadth was the story: Infleqtion (INFQ) +7.2% to $9.28, Arqit (ARQQ) +7.1% to $16.40, Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT) +4.9% to $6.82, Rigetti (RGTI) +3.3% to $12.05, IonQ (IONQ) +3.3% to $32.28 and D-Wave (QBTS) +2.7% to $12.10 all advanced together, the signature of a sentiment move rather than a single-name print. IBM (IBM) +3.9% to $251.46 lent the classical-coprocessing rung a large-cap anchor.

The laggard was Hamamatsu Photonics (HPHTY), down 6.6% to $6.70 on the lasers-photonics chokepoint — the single-photon detector and light-source supply that gates photonic and trapped-ion readout. The move is a thin-ADR repricing (the US line had printed flat at $7.17 for four straight sessions before Wednesday's mark) and carries little signal; Sumitomo Heavy's ADR (SOHVY) was similarly soft, −6.0% to $8.37 on the cryogenics rung, another illiquid foreign line rather than a fundamental tell.

Across the enabling-supply layer the tone was constructive. The isotopes-and-materials rung firmed with Bruker (BRKR) +5.7% to $59.11, and the control-electronics and cryogenics rung saw FormFactor (FORM) +4.2% to $112.18 and Keysight (KEYS) +2.2% to $341.35. The classical-coprocessing names tracked the semiconductor bid — AMD (AMD) +3.4% to $552.72, NVIDIA (NVDA) +2.5% to $221.97 — while Alphabet (GOOGL) slipped 1.6% to $334.76 against the group. The industrial-gas and UHV rungs that underpin dilution-refrigerator and vacuum supply were quiet.

The hard catalyst ahead is federal, not corporate. DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative concludes Stage B around November 6 and runs its Stage C downselect decisions through late November into year-end — the funding signal that most directly reprices the platform rung this vertical maps, with the final downselect window closing December 31. Before that, the Q2B26 industry conference in Chicago (December 8–10) is the next sentiment set-piece, and Gooch & Housego reports FY2026 results December 8 on the photonics side. Until the DARPA decisions land, the group trades on tape and headline risk, not on gate-fidelity milestones.
